Where Fun Doesn't Age!
Where Fun Doesn't Age!

Rebecca Pow MP for Taunton Deane visited our club and spent a long time engaging with our club members. Rebecca has heard we will be opening a new club in Tiverton shortly and commented on a Tweet "Very well done and good luck with the new club."

Des Hannon, Devon County Councillor for Tiverton East said: "The people enjoying themselves at the Young at Heart Club are the same people who've paid their taxes and worked hard to make this a great place to live for all of us. It's a privilege to be able to show the community's appreciation with a contribution towards good times and good company in later life. Everyone at the Young at Heart Club has earned a bit of fun many times over."

Neil Parish MP. "It was clear to see that members have fun and are well looked after..."

County Councillor Ray Radford commented... "Councillor Colin Slade and myself are very pleased to support this wonderful club, who give such good service to those that need it"

Young at heart club "Testimonials"

We like to think we are making a difference to lonely older peoples lives and it is always nice to receive positive feedback from members and their carers. Here are just a few we have received so far.

PP (Tiverton) "Without the respite you provide we would not have been able to cope, don't think you realise just how much you contribute to the care of these frail people so we will always be grateful".

JW (Uffculme) "Thank you and we are extremely appreciative for all you do at 'Young at Heart' and for transforming our mums life!"

SB (Tiverton) "Thank you so much for what you do!! Mum enjoys "HER CLUB" so much it really is her Happy Place!".

RS (Tiverton) "Coming to the Young at Heart Club is like a second home to me. I love it and it gives me something to look forward to each week."

AW (Tiverton) "We can't thank Lloyd and Diana enough for all their hard work. Their club helps us to keep our mum interacting with life".

CS (Wellington) "It's what my husband and I have been looking for, activities, meeting people, enjoying the company. I would encourage more people to come. There's nothing like it in Wellington and the food is excellent".

ML (Wellington) "It's wonderful, so stimulating especially for the older people who can't drive and are provided with transport here. All the games are good, a kind of occupational therapy and we enjoy talking to each other because sometimes people can go weeks without meeting anyone. It takes courage to make the first move to come but it's definately worth it!"

Community Mentor. "I saw Mrs W today, she was telling me what a wonderful time her husband had on Friday. He was in a very good mood when he got home and they had a very good evening. He really enjoyed his day with you."

MW (Cullompton) " I am so pleased with the Young at Heart Club as my husband had a great time, in fact he said he 'loved it'. This is the first time he has said anything like that in the last two years".

Support Workers (South West Team) "All the staff and support workers think that you all do an amazing job, they have so much fun and really enjoy it - thank you".

BS & CS (Wellington) "Just what we have been looking for, a club like this. All activities are enjoyable and light exercise without knowing it. Thank you very much."

AM (Tiverton) "I like coming to young at heart as I like the games we play and I like the company, even though I have a disability I am included in all the games and activities".

AN (Cullompton) "Mum has known Diana & Lloyd for years in a caring day centre & now in this wonderful club. I know that she is always eager to come and returns happy. My husband and I are so pleased to have some secure respite care for mum".

SA (Tiverton) " I really do like coming to the young at heart club. I have met some lovely friends".

Carers/Support Workers Team Manager (Mid Devon) "Can I just take this opportunity to feedback to you how impressed the staff and people we support have been with their time with you so far.
Staff have commented on how relaxed the atmosphere is, how enjoyable and person centred the activities are. The clients really look forward to their time with you and have even sent off an article to our voice magazine saying how much they enjoy it."

Carer (Culmstock) "she absolutely adores you both and talk's constantly about you. Thank you both for the joy you have brought into her life!"

SP (Tiverton) "Lloyd and Diana, you are lovely people and you both are so dedicated I know that my dad will love coming to 'Young at heart'

LG (Cullompton) "Thank god you've started the club up...Mum was very unhappy and depressed, now she's much happier, telling people about the club, looking forward to Fridays and Mondays and brighter in between. Also far more placid. My husband and I are delighted with the care you provide for mum, which helps us both to relax on our "days off". She is so happy now...."

PP (Tiverton) "He absolutely loves his time with you, he enjoys every minute of his day and the beautiful food is an added bonus. Many thanks, I know that when he is with you both he is happy, safe and enjoying doing things."

CB (Cullompton) "I am very happy that mum is coming to you twice a week as she enjoys it and looks forward to coming."

SW (Tiverton) "I sit at home all week trying to find things to occupy my time, the only thing I have to look forward to is going to the young at heart club on Fridays. I have made new friends and love the games and socialising. Thank you".
