She could be sitting at home watching TV all day!
However, she prefers coming to the Young at Heart Club instead!
Not surprising really!
At the Young at Heart Club we offer Day Services for older people in Mid Devon and West Somerset in a comfortable safe environment. Our Club is based at the lovely Burlescombe & Westleigh Community Hall situated conveniently on the Devon/Somerset border.
Our club offers quality Day Care for older people who are lonely, maybe due to a recent bereavement or feel isolated. We also provide support for carers who require respite whose loved ones may have suffered a stroke or people who are at the early stages of Dementia.
We have easy access for people with mobility issues and disabled toilet facilities.
The Young at Heart Club is fully insured and the staff have up to date Health & Safety, First Aid, Adult Safeguarding and Hygiene certificates. It is managed by a club committee who share a common goal of providing a quality service which is affordable to most. Helping tackle loneliness and isolation amongst older people in rural areas.
Volunteers and staff bring to the club lots of craft and creative skills which means the activities are varied and stimulating. Members enjoy the company of others and participate in games (some of which are unique to the club), and the room is filled with the sound of laughter. We provide a full day of activities for people over the age of 60. This is held every FRIDAY at Burlescombe from 10:00am to 2:30pm.
A nutritious two course lunch is cooked on the premises using locally sourced produce. Refreshments are supplied throughout the day.
